Soaps and wax polishes are traditional products used to enhance and maintain stucco. They enhance the characteristic appearance of Stucco Veneziano and Marmorino and can – depending on the surface and application – offer additional protection against moisture and dirt.

Protecting, maintaining and finishing stucco

The final treatment is an important part of traditional trowelling techniques. Depending on the type of stucco used and the desired finish, soaps or wax polishes are employed. These can enhance the colour and sheen of the surface whilst improving its practical properties.

The final finish plays a particularly important role in Stucco Veneziano. The smooth surface, which is already created by compacting and polishing, thereby acquires its characteristic depth and elegant appearance.

Venetian soap for mineral surfaces

Venetian soap is a traditional treatment for lime-bound surfaces. The reaction between the soap and the lime creates a water-repellent effect without unnecessarily masking the mineral character of the surface.

It is particularly suitable for finishing Stucco Veneziano and other suitable lime and marble plaster surfaces.

Punic wax for shine and finishing

Punic wax is used for the final finishing of polished marble plaster surfaces. It can be applied thinly and then polished. This gives the surface extra shine and a particularly elegant sense of depth.

Depending on the desired finish, various formulations are available which, in addition to providing protection, can also achieve decorative effects.

Beeswax balm with carnauba wax

Our beeswax balm with carnauba wax is suitable for the protective care and high-gloss polishing of Stucco Veneziano and Marmorino. It has water-repellent and anti-static properties, intensifies the colour and gives the surface a beautiful sheen. At the same time, the wax layer offers additional protection against everyday wear and tear and is easy to apply.

Soap or wax – which is the right choice?

The appropriate treatment depends on the type of marble render used, the intended application and the desired appearance. Whilst soap is particularly closely associated with the traditional treatment of lime-bound surfaces, wax offers additional options for maintenance and visual enhancement.

For surfaces subject to heavier wear or where there are specific requirements for moisture protection, however, other protective systems or sealants may be more appropriate.
